SANTA BARBARA - Wednesday’s sighting of a great white shark marks the 23rd recorded incident of “shark activity” in Santa Barbara County waters, since April of this year.

Marine Mammal expert Peter Howarth keeps records of local shark activity from sightings to sea lion attacks, and attacks on humans.

The first logged incident of 2012 happened April 14th when a great white attacked a mature sea lion off Stearn’s Wharf.

The most recent sighting happened Wednesday evening, between the entrance to the Santa Barbara Harbor and the Sandspit.
